Dental Ergonomics and Indirect Vision

Finally, know exactly where to sit, place your mirror, and your finger rest for every surface of each tooth.

Is trying to work in indirect vision driving you crazy? Keep nicking teeth and moving your handpiece in the opposite direction you intended?

Can’t figure out where to sit and how to position your mirror and handpiece to access that DL line angle of #19? Can’t seem to see anything when you try to work on the palatal surface of #9?

I hear you, and I get it. I was in your shoes too, just a few short years ago. I remember what it was like.

I was trying to do an ideal prep, but somehow things seemed so very difficult. I couldn’t see! How am I supposed to do such an intricate preparation if I can’t see what I’m doing?

And indirect vision? For real? Was it even possible to ‘just look in the mirror’ while working? If it was, it certainly seemed out of reach to me.

But then, I figured it out. It was hard, but I cracked the code.

Fast forward a few years, I’ve been working with candidates on their bench test skills through Bench Test Mastery for a while now, and often got this questions:

Where exactly should I be sitting and positioning the mirror to work on X surface of X tooth?

And before, I’ve given the answer that most other dentists do.

  1. experiement, everybody is different. Try out different positions and find out what works for you.

Then I remembered how I felt back then when I felt so lost. And how nice it would be if I had the formula. Sure, I may tweak that formula, but having that would have been such a good starting point. It would’ve alleviated a lot of stress trying to figure everything out from scratch, would’ve saved me so much time and agony.

And so, here, I’m creating this course for you. To try and save you time and frustration, so you can practice efficiently and pass your bench test.

You can follow this course whether you’re practicing from your home or from a dental office or lab. Many candidates have a home lab, and this course is filmed with a setup mirroring that.

What’s included:

  • How To Train For Indirect Vision

  • Where to sit, how to position the patient, where to place the mirror and your finger rest for working on every surface of every tooth. Several options if applicable. Including what to do if you’re going to a school that doesn’t accommodate the patient’s head to be tilted left and right.

This course will be added to Bench Test Mastery, so if you’re a member, or if you’re planning on becoming a member, no need to join this course separately.
